Santa Gula

  • Average price: 25€/person
  • Recommendation for 2 persons: 2 or 3 tapas to share, a main dish per person and a dessert to share.
  • Location: Plaça Narcís Oller, 3, Barcelona (metro: Diagonal)
  • Vegetarian options!

  • This is one of my favourite restaurants in Barcelona! Santa Gula is a super cute and tiny restaurant that offers classic dishes of the Catalan and Spanish gastronomy with a modern and cosmo touch and some jazzy variations of the ingredients. Every day is very crowded, especially weekends, so you should call and book a table before going.

The restaurant is quite small but cosy and illuminated with natural daylight. To me it's perfect for having lunch rather than dinner. It's not a cheap option but if you wanna surprise somebody this is your place!

The menu changes quite frequently so it's a bit difficult for me to recommend you a specific dish, but if you go there some day you should ask the waiters what's the dish they suggest or what's the speciality of the season. It never fails!

I'll leave you some pics that I took the last time I went to the restaurant. Hope you like them and please PLEASE give it a try! You'll love it!!!
Starters to share: Bread with tomato - a typical catalan side -, squid croquettes and patatas bravas
Patatas bravas are commonly ordered as an appetiser all around Spain. The tapa consists of fried potato cubes, mayo and 'salsa brava' (spicy sauce)
    Hipster deco (LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!)
My lovely partner in crime ordered a steak tartar with crystallised mushrooms, potato chicharrones and egg yolk
Red tuna tempura Tataki with mango, sesame and avocado salad
Everything's so white and decorated on care attention to the detail
Desserts are unbelievable! We went for an apple and ginger crumble with vanilla ice-cream and a rum babá with lime and mascarpone

Wow this looks delicious - and love the decor. This city has such great restaurants. Adding it to my list of restos for the next time I go back to BCN.
